Glad you guys are still here! Thanks for putting up with the slow-down. I thought about the comic a lot while hiking and feel re-inspired from the break.

I gotta say, it's weird to be back in civilization. Gives one perspective.

Top three underrated positives of civilization:

1. Sitting devices (i.e chairs, which are really dozens of times superior to rocks or logs)
2. Indoor plumbing (an obvious one)
3. Domestic cats

Top three underrated negatives of civilization:

1. Light pollution
2. Skunks living in your house in your absence
3. Jury duty

Wow, a skunk in your house?! We've got a raccoon that tries to live under the house, but never inside, knock on wood.

Welcome back from your trip! That must've really been amazing. I Googled the High Sierras, and it said that some parts of them are upwards of 10,000 feet. That easily puts my region of mountains here in Crestline to shame. ;)

Do you get sunburned from living outdoors for that many days? Me, I could probably never do that, since I turn beet red within just a few hours.

Yep! Spent almost all three weeks above 10,000 feet. Climbed Mt. Whitney, even. but not the hard way.

As to the skunks, yeah... Still dealing with that. They really aren't scared of us and the house doesn't smell so good right now.

Also, three words: 70 SPF sunblock.

I love your top threes.

Jury duty????

Yep, straight from the John Muir Trail to a Juror holding pen! No case yet, though.

Welcome back!

Sitting devices are kind of the best thing are sleeping devices. Being out in nature is wonderful, but it can get...uncomfy. Didja meet any wildlife?

Marmots. Lots and lots of marmots. ...And they're kinda the cutest animals ever. And deer and lots of chipmunky things. No bears, sadly. :)

Is that the hindquarters of an animal of the felidae panthera leo persuasion that I see?

LOL. No, it would be awesome if it were, but it is just a poorly drawn taupe cow. :)
