If I were one of those soldiers I'd be running for my life. I've, personally, been savagely attacked by geese and that was nothing to laugh at. And Ruby-Eye is a lot bigger than your typical goose. Ruby should watch were he puts his wings, though.

Let's just say what everyone's thinking: Ruby-Eye is essentially a big, feathery dinosaur... and it's Jurassic Park time.

Run indeed.

Yep. These guys thought they were coming to collect a carcass, not to risk being turned into some. :)

Ruby says... It's dinner time!

Or is he/she (?) an herbivore??

ETA: I too learned (when I was very young) that you don't mess with geese. They can be brutal!!

He is definitely omnivorous. But usually goes for smaller game than people. :)

I really want this to end well for Ruby but I'm worried that it won't. :(

As for vicious birds, my mom would never let my sister and I near large birds growing up because of their ability to kill. I thought she was kidding and then I learned about swans.
Ninabird 25th Nov 2014, 1:14 PM Edit Delete Reply
Yeah, swans are f%#&ing scary! And yes, Ruby has the advantage of size, but he's suffering from the crash pretty badly...

Poor Ruby. Scared and in pain. I hope that things will turn for the better soon.
Ninabird 25th Nov 2014, 1:14 PM Edit Delete Reply
He is, indeed, really just pretty scared. :(

Giant birds are not to be trifled with. Like you, I've been on the wrong side of a goose :o

I'm impressed by how many people have goose attack stories! For me, I was walking in Europe and stumbled across a pair of guard geese in someone's farm. They were, literally, guard geese. And the farmer had to come save me.

Geese are freaking mean! Guard geese, I'd assume, doubly so! When we first moved up here, I started to take a walk down our street for the first time. I'd gotten all of 5 houses away, when a turkey started coming out of a neighbor's yard advancing and, well, *gobbling* at me. I postponed the rest of my walk 'til later that day, rather than try to get past him or her. I guess if farmer's have guard geese, some mountaineers have guard turkeys... (Oh, the things you never think you'll hear yourself say...) ;)

Oh man... I am now officially chomping at the bit for the next page... This situation has me tense just reading it.
Ninabird 25th Nov 2014, 9:17 PM Edit Delete Reply
I find it really hard to maintain tension in a rhythm of pages... So I'm glad to hear it's working!

I was attacked by a swan in Italy.

Vicious killers the lot of them. Basically volociraptors with white feathers.
